May 18, 1920 - Karol Wojtyła was born in the small Polish town of Wadowice near Krakow, as the second child of  Karol Wojtyła and Emilia   Kaczorowska.

The Wojtyła family lived in a modest way. To maintain his family, Karol’s father worked as an non- commissioned army  officer and his mother worked occasionally as a needlewoman.

April 13, 1929 - Mother’s death at the age of 45.

24-th May 1929 - He was given the Holy Communion.  

December 5, 1932  - Death of his  26-year-old  elder brother, Edmund Wojtyła ( 1906- 1932), who had been a physician.           

May 14, 1938 - Completed examinations at Secondary School with  flying colours and received a first-class school-leaving certificate. Enrolled  in the Faculty of Philosophy ( course in Polish  Philosophy) at Jagellonian University, Krakow.

February 18, 1941 - Karol Wojtyła’s father died.

November1, 1946 - Ordained to the priesthood in Krakow by Archbichop Adam Sapieha   

September, 1948 – January, 1949 - Vicar of various parishes in Krakow and Niegłowice, also  a catechist in Wiatrowice, Pierzchów, Cichawa   and Nieznanowice.

March, 1949                    Transferred to St Florian’s parish Church in Krakow.

From that time, as a young priest, he began  to take young people on  trips and excursions all over the country.

October, 1942  -  Began courses in the clandestine seminary of  Krakow ran by Cardinal Adam Sapieha, Archbishop of Krakow

September 28, 1958 - Consecrated  in Wawel Cathedral, Krakow, by Archbishop Eugeniusz Baziak.

October 11, 1962 – December 8, 1965

Participated in the  Second Vatican Council.

26-th June 1967 - he was nominated the cardinal and three days later he was given a red cap in the Syxtinian Chapel; he's titled church became the church of saint Cesary on Palatin.

30-th December 1963 - he was nominated the Archbishop of Cracow after the death of previous Archbishop Eugenius Baziak.

16-th October 1978y - at 6.18 pm the crowds gathered on St. Peter’s square in Rome saw the white smoke and they heard the voice of the  cardinal who said traditional announcement : ,, Annutio  vobis qaudium …..Cardum’’.

7.20.p.m  the crows could see bishops and cardinals  and finally in the balconies at the Basilice they saw  the new pope John Poul II.

13-th May 1981 - John Paul II was shot by the Turkish assasin at 5.19 during the General Audience on the St. Peter's Square in Rome.

13-th June 1987 - during his third pilgrimage to Poland John Paul II visited our town Łódź. It was a very important event not only for the history of Łódź but also for the history of his pontificate. For the very first time the Pope visited the factory ( "Uniontex" in Kilińskiego street ) and he administered the Holy Communion to the hundred of children during the Holy Mass at Lublinek Airport.

17 January 1995 - port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

31-January-11 February 1986 - the journey to India and meeting with the Blessed Mother Teresa from Calcuta.

13-th April 1986 - the visit to the Roman's Major Synagog- for the first time from the times of the Apostols.

15 October 1991 - the pilgrimage to Brasie.

4 September 1997 - the Pope visited the Mountain of Crosses in Szewle in Lituania

24-25 December 1999 - at midnight on Christmas Eve the Pope opened the Holy Doors in the Basilic of St. Peter as a sign of the Great Jubilee of the Year 2000.

12^th , 13^th May 2000 - the pope beahificdes two Visions in Fatima Francesco and Haunt Marko and he meek with sister Lucio.

20-th March 2000 - the Pilgrimage to the Holy Land- the Pope was at the Christ's Grave.

 

26^th March 2000 -He pilgnape to the holy Lund (the pope next to the Walls of Cying).

25 – th  January 2004 – the Pope  met break dance dancers from Poland at the private audience .

17 – th  August 2002 – the visit of the Holy Father in the sanctuary of Gods Mercy in Cracow – Łapiewniki  .

2 – th April 2005 – the personal  doctor of  the pope Poland.

The Holy Mass was celebated by the cardinals and bishop, of the Catholic and the Eastern Churches, the main person was cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (who 11 days bather was chosen the new pope) There were about 300 thousand people at the funeral with the presidents and prime ministers of different countries and the leaders of Islamic and Jewish churches.
